The Breach
Initially developed as a World Building class assignment in Fall 2017, I’ve expanded on the world since the class ended and continue developing pieces for it. such as the Twine project “Breach Initiation.” A variant on this universe turned into The Gristmill, the world of my 2018-19 Graduate Capstone at RIT.
The world of The Breach is a low-fantasy medieval setting, without magic or variant technology. The Breach, a fort stuck within a valley, acts as a stopgap between the monster infested woods and the country of Einvorn. Much of the fiction revolves around the people who hold the line at the fort, part of a society wholly dedicated to becoming an ever more efficient defense against the rapidly evolving creatures of the forest. Just as the soldiers become more skilled, the beasts seem to learn from each engagement, growing more cunning or taking on new unknown forms.
